Michigan Stadium Parking Reviews
Real experiences from verified drivers.
Easy to navigate to the property and the chalk lines on where to park helped tremendously. It was a fantastic place to park for the University of Michigan football game.

Your Ultimate Guide to Michigan Stadium Parking on Game Days
Hey there, friends! If you're gearing up for a thrilling game day at Michigan Stadium, also known as "The Big House," you've come to the right spot! We know the excitement of grabbing your friends, throwing on those Maize & Blue jerseys, & heading out to cheer on the Wolverines. But wait, what about parking? Navigating the parking scene on game day can be as wild as the game itself! In this guide, we’ll lay out everything you need to know about parking near Michigan Stadium.
Understanding Your Parking Options
Michigan Stadium offers a plethora of parking options for fans on game days! When it comes to parking, you'll find it’s a mix of on-campus lots & off-campus locations. Here's the lowdown:
- On-Campus Parking: The on-campus lots typically open to the public, but they can fill up faster than a Michigan drive. It’s vital to arrive early to snag your spot!
Off-Campus Parking: There are several off-campus parking options available within a comfortable walking distance to the stadium, depending on your budget. Some of the options include:
- Pioneer High School
- Limited public parking available.
- Ann Arbor Golf Outing
- Opens early for members — not open to the public.
- U-M Golf Course
- Typically cash sales only at certain entrances.
- Pioneer High School
Always Check the Football Parking Inventory
To save you from potential headaches, it’s a smart idea to check the latest Football Parking Inventory page for the most up-to-date availability of lots & prices. You’ll also find specific lot hours, fees, & any possible closures due to weather listed there.
Parking Lot Hours You Need to Know
So, when can you start rolling into those lots? Mark your calendars, cause the on-site parking lots open at 6 a.m. on game days, & you'll need to vacate your space within two hours post-game. If you're bringing an RV, just remember: NO OVERNIGHT PARKING is allowed in any U-M football game day parking lots.
Lots Open at Different Times Based on Game Time:
- Noon or 3:30 PM Games: Lots open at 6 AM.
- 7:30 PM Games: Lots open at Noon.
You’ll definitely want to refer to the Football Parking Inventory page for specific details regarding your game day!
RV Parking – It’s a Wild Ride!
If you’re rolling with a big crew & planning to bring an RV, Michigan Stadium does have some options, but the rules are strict!
Main RV Parking Lots:
Brown Lot (Varsity Tennis Center): RVs can park here starting at 7 a.m. on game day. Just remember, NO overnight camping is allowed! Permits are sold onsite & subject to availability.
Blue Lot: You can only access this lot if you have a Blue Lot RV permit. There are NO day-of-game sales for RVs, so you better plan ahead.
Maize Lot: Same as Brown & Blue Lot! RVs can park from 7 a.m. & you need to snag a permit onsite.
Note: RVs MUST vacate the lot within two hours post-game, or else they risk being towed! For your RV parking inquiries, feel free to dial the Athletic Operations Event Management Office.
Accessible Parking for Guests With Disabilities
Michigan Stadium doesn’t forget about its fans needing accessibility! Designated parking is available in several locations, including:
- Blue Lot: Permit only.
- Champions North: Allows accessible parking.
- Green Lot: Offers limited single-game passes on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Make sure your vehicle displays both your state-issued disability parking placard & the proper U-M Athletic Department football gameday disability parking permit for lot access. Check out the full details in the Michigan Stadium Guide for Guests with Disabilities.
Shuttle Services – A Smooth Ride to the Stadium!
Don’t forget about the waiting game! The Ann Arbor Area Transportation Authority (AAATA) offers a super handy FootballRide Shuttle Service. The shuttle runs approximately every 20 minutes, beginning two hours before kick-off. It stops at key locations such as Ann Arbor hotels & downtown spots, making it easy to reach the stadium without dealing with parking hassles.
- Shuttle Fare: $1.50 one-way.
- Pick-Up Location: Gate 2 at Michigan Stadium.
- Last shuttles leave 30 minutes prior to kick-off. For all the details, you can visit the AAATA site or call them at (734) 996-0400.
Parking Policies You Must Follow
Alright, let's get real! While you're out there having a fantastic time, there are some ground rules to keep in mind:
- Normal parking regulations apply! Vehicles parked in fire lanes or illegal spots will risk being ticketed & towed.
- Lot spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. If your designated lot is full, you’ll be directed to the next available lot.
- Overnight parking is NOT permitted in any U-M football game day parking lots.
- Please ensure your vehicle vacates the lot within two hours after the game, or it will be towed.
- Digital parking QR codes must be displayed on a smartphone; printed versions won't be accepted.
If you have any questions or concerns about parking, the Event Management Office is your go-to! Just give them a call at (734) 647-1218.
Tailgating – The Game Day Tradition
Tailgating before Michigan home games? Count us in! You might wonder what’s allowed from your favorite tailgate activities. Here’s what you need to know:
- Tailgating is permitted in designated areas, but equipment must remain within your parked space.
- You can't block pathways or extend into areas used for traffic – those parking attendants keep a close eye.
- Generators must be placed at least 25 feet away from tents & structures.
- Drinking & smoking regulations may apply, so check Michigan Stadium Information before showing up with your favorite tiki bar set-up.
For those looking for a more organized tailgating experience, consider REVELxp, the official tailgating provider for Michigan Athletics. They offer full-service experiences, including reserved spaces, set-up, and clean-up.
