Darrell K Royal - Memorial Stadium Parking Information

Reviewed by Prked Editorial Team · Last updated September 14, 2026

Heading into central Austin on a game day takes some preparation, especially with over 100,000 fans heading toward Darrell K Royal - Texas Memorial Stadium. The stadium sits on the east edge of the University of Texas at Austin campus right along I-35, meaning you will run into street closures, donor-only lots, and backed-up highway traffic. Whether you are heading to a big SEC matchup or an early-season non-conference game, figuring out where to park, which garages take drive-ups, and how to dodge the post-game rush will save you a lot of time.

Where is the best place to find Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium parking for Texas Longhorns games?

Where you should park for a Longhorns game mostly comes down to whether you have a donor permit. If you have one, stick to your assigned campus lot or garage. General fans usually get the best mix of price and convenience at the Texas Capitol Complex State Garages (Garages A, E, and F) or by reserving a private space on Prked, which is the #1-ranked parking company on Trustpilot in both the Parking Garage and Parking Lot categories.

If you want to be relatively close and do not mind a 10 to 15-minute walk, the state garages south of Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Blvd give you fixed rates and an easier exit away from the stadium crowd. If you would rather skip the campus congestion altogether or save some money, the park-and-ride lots north of campus make getting in and out much simpler.

Darrell K Royal Stadium Parking Prices: How much does game day parking cost?

Parking prices for Darrell K Royal Stadium range from $10 for park-and-ride shuttles up to $75 for surface tailgate lots, though most public garages run between $25 and $40.

On-campus garages like Manor, Brazos, and San Jacinto require annual Longhorn Foundation memberships, which involve hundreds of dollars in seat-related donations. If you are looking for single-game parking, the Texas Facilities Commission sets flat public rates across state facilities:

  • State Garages A, E, and F: $40 per vehicle.
  • State Garage J and Capitol Visitor Garage: $25 per vehicle.
  • State Garage G and Surface Lot 24: $75 per vehicle (premium/tailgate proximity).
  • State Lot 26 (North Austin Park-and-Ride): $10 per vehicle for single-day parking, or $20 per space from 6:00 PM the evening before kickoff through noon Sunday.
  • ADA / Special Accommodation Spaces (Lot 118 & Trinity St): $50 to $62 per vehicle on a first-come, first-served basis.

Can you pay drive-up rates or do you need Texas Longhorns football parking passes?

You cannot drive up and pay at official campus garages on game day without a prepaid parking pass or donor permit. You can, however, pay drive-up rates with cash or card at state-run Capitol garages and remote state lots.

Main campus facilities (like Manor, San Jacinto, Brazos, Trinity, and East Campus garages) are reserved strictly for Longhorn Foundation members and fans holding pre-purchased digital permits. Attendants turn away anyone without proper credentials at campus checkpoints. If you did not buy a pass ahead of time, head south toward the state complex along 15th through 18th Streets, or reserve a guaranteed private driveway or spot on Prked.

Texas Capitol State Garages Game Day Parking: Which lots allow public parking?

The Texas Facilities Commission opens State Garages A, E, F, G, J, and the Capitol Visitor Garage to the general public on game days.

Garages A, E, and F sit between MLK Blvd and 15th Street east of Congress Avenue, putting you about a half-mile walk from DKR's south gates. Garage J is near 16th and Colorado Streets, and the Capitol Visitor Garage is at 1201 San Jacinto Blvd. You can pay on arrival with cash or card (depending on the booth) or book a spot in advance through LAZ Parking.

Keep in mind that State Garages B, Q, and R are leased to UT for home games, so they stay closed to general public parking.

What time do DKR parking garages and surface lots open before kickoff?

Official UT campus garages and surface lots open at 7:00 AM on game days, moving up to 6:00 AM if kickoff is scheduled for 11:00 AM.

Road closures start even earlier. By 5:00 AM, key campus roads (including San Jacinto Blvd between Dean Keeton and MLK, Robert Dedman Dr, Trinity St, and Clyde Littlefield Dr) shut down to unauthorized vehicles.

The university also begins towing cars on Friday night along nearby streets, especially on San Jacinto Blvd and 21st Street. If you have a regular campus parking permit and do not move your car out of designated game day zones by the Friday deadline, it will be towed to the impound lot at your expense.

Is there an official UT Austin football park and ride shuttle option?

Yes. An official game day park-and-ride shuttle runs out of State Lot 26, located at the North Austin Complex at 701 W 51st Street.

Parking costs $10 per standard car. UT shuttles start running 3 hours before kickoff and keep going until an hour after the game ends. Buses drop off and pick up along Dean Keeton Street near Robert Dedman Drive, right next to the stadium's north entrance and the Bevo Blvd setup. Lot 26 also accommodates RVs and oversized vehicles from 6:00 PM Friday through noon Sunday for $20 per space (note that there are no hookups).

Where are ADA accessible stalls and the DKR handicap parking shuttle?

ADA and Special Accommodation parking is available in Surface Lot 118 (south of MLK Blvd between Red River St and the I-35 Frontage Rd) and on Trinity Street near DeLoss Dodds Way.

These spots cost between $50 and $62 and open at 7:00 AM on a first-come, first-served basis. The person to whom the state-issued disability placard or plate is registered must be in the car and show an ID at the security checkpoints (either at Robert Dedman Dr & Dean Keeton St, or the Lot 118 I-35 entrance).

UT Fan Services runs a free golf cart shuttle for fans with mobility needs. Carts pick up at Lot 118, the East Campus Garage, and along outer campus drop points, running riders directly to accessible stadium gates:

  • Gate 7 (West Side / Bellmont Hall elevator)
  • Gate 14 (North End Zone / Red McCombs Red Zone)
  • Gate 16 (Northwest Corner)
  • Gate 27 (East Side elevator access)

If you are only dropping someone off and not parking, head to the designated drop-off spot at MLK Jr. Blvd and Trinity Street.

What is the official DKR stadium rideshare drop off location?

The designated rideshare drop-off and pick-up zone is along the south curb of Dean Keeton Street, between Robert Dedman Drive and Red River Street.

Because police and parking staff close off the inner campus roads, entering "DKR Stadium" in Uber or Lyft automatically directs drivers to this Dean Keeton zone. You will head back to this same stretch after the game to find your ride.

If you want to dodge the worst surge pricing and crowded sidewalks, walk about 10 minutes west past Speedway over to Guadalupe Street (The Drag), or head south past 15th Street toward downtown before ordering a car.

How do I avoid I-35 traffic and road closures when driving to DKR parking?

With TxDOT's ongoing I-35 Capital Express construction creating bottlenecks, you are usually better off coming in from the west on MoPac Expressway (Loop 1) or Lamar Boulevard rather than taking I-35.

If you do use I-35, keep a few key traffic details in mind:

  • MLK Blvd Exit Change: Coming south from North Austin, stay on the lower deck to catch the MLK Blvd exit. You cannot reach MLK from the upper deck.
  • 15th Street Northbound Ramp Closure: The old 15th Street on-ramp to northbound I-35 is permanently closed, meaning post-game traffic from 15th Street gets routed onto the southbound frontage road or down to 12th Street to get back on the highway.
  • Arrive via West Campus: Take the 24th Street or Enfield Road exit off MoPac, drive east, and take San Antonio, Nueces, or Guadalupe south toward downtown garages to avoid highway work entirely.

Reserving Private Residential Parking Near Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium

Booking a private driveway or off-street spot from a resident in the neighborhoods around UT is one of the easiest ways to dodge game day gridlock. Unlike campus garages that empty thousands of vehicles into the exact same contra-flow routes, parking in a nearby neighborhood puts you just outside the road closure zone with direct access to local streets:

  • Cherrywood and French Place (East of I-35): Driveways on Concordia Avenue, Robinson Avenue, French Place, and Lafayette Avenue leave you a comfortable 10- to 15-minute walk from DKR's east gates and LBJ Lawn tailgates using the footbridges at Dean Keeton or Manor Road. Leaving after the game is simple: you can drive east on Manor or north toward Airport Boulevard and US-183, skipping the I-35 backups and the 45- to 90-minute lines at Manor and East Campus garages.
  • North University and Aldridge Place (North of Dean Keeton): Spots along Speedway, Duval Street, and East 30th through 33rd Streets put you 8 to 14 minutes north of Gate 14 and Bevo Blvd. When the game is over, you can head west on 30th or 38th Street toward North Lamar and MoPac, or north on Duval toward 45th Street without getting tangled in MLK Blvd traffic.
  • West Campus (West of Guadalupe Street): Driveways and private stalls on San Gabriel, Nueces, and Rio Grande Streets are a 12- to 16-minute walk through campus to the stadium's west gates. When leaving, you can skip the highway altogether and take 24th Street or Enfield Road straight onto MoPac.

Reserving ahead on Prked makes securing residential parking near DKR simple. You can read reviews, check walking distances, and pay in advance. Rated 5.0/5 on Trustpilot with over 750 reviews, it lets you park on private property with an on-site host, steering clear of city tow zones and crowded public garages while keeping post-game departure quick.

Public Transit and Alternative Neighborhood UT Football Parking Options

If you want to skip driving entirely, Austin's CapMetro transit system runs frequent bus service right to the edge of campus:

  • MetroRapid Routes 801 and 803: Run every 10–15 minutes along Guadalupe Street, dropping off at the UT West Mall (about an 8-minute walk across campus to DKR).
  • CapMetro Bus Routes 6, 7, 10, 18, and 837: Serve stops around the stadium and Capitol Complex. Note that Routes 7 and 10 run on detours around game day street closures.
  • Private Off-Campus Booking: Free street parking in West Campus and North University is virtually non-existent due to City of Austin residential parking permit (RPP) rules, which are strictly enforced on game days. Booking a private driveway or spot through Prked gives you a reserved, guaranteed space within walking distance without risking a ticket or tow.

How long does it take to exit Manor Garage and other DKR parking facilities after the game?

Getting out of on-campus garages right next to the stadium, like Manor or San Jacinto Garage, often takes 45 to 90 minutes after the fourth quarter. Foot traffic and police contra-flow patterns slow departures to a crawl.

State garages located farther south in the Capitol Complex (like Garages E, J, and the Capitol Visitor Garage) usually clear in about 20 to 30 minutes since their exits lead onto downtown one-way streets away from the main crush. If you are parked right by the stadium, you might want to stick around for the post-game band concert or hang out on the LBJ Lawn for 45 minutes while the initial rush clears out.

Which Parking Option Is Right for You?

Planning your trip to Darrell K Royal - Memorial Stadium requires weighing trade-offs between walking distance, budget, and post-game traffic. The decision matrix below compares every official garage, state-run lot, and alternative transit option available for Texas Longhorns game days side by side. Use these key factors—cost, convenience, egress speed, and parking security—to quickly find the right parking solution for your game day schedule.

Prked vs. Manor Garage & Campus Donor Lots for DKR Parking

While Manor Garage puts you mere steps from Darrell K Royal - Memorial Stadium, it is restricted entirely to high-tier donors and suffers from severe 45- to 90-minute post-game exit delays. Booking a residential driveway through Prked is open to all fans without annual donation requirements and provides a 5- to 15-minute walk. Prked also offers a significantly faster departure by routing you directly onto neighborhood roads outside the inner campus closure zone.

Is Prked Better Than East Campus Garage for Darrell K Royal - Memorial Stadium Games?

East Campus Garage costs $40 to $50 in advance and leaves you an 8- to 12-minute walk across the I-35 pedestrian bridge, but drivers regularly face 45- to 90-minute lines trying to clear the garage after the game. Prked spots in nearby neighborhoods like Cherrywood offer comparable 10- to 15-minute walking distances to the east gates. When the fourth quarter ends, residential spots allow you to bypass the highway bottleneck entirely by using local routes like Manor Road or Airport Boulevard.

Prked vs. Texas Capitol State Garages (A, E, F)

State Garages A, E, and F offer a standardized $40 flat rate and a 10- to 15-minute walk from south of MLK Boulevard, with average exit times of 20 to 30 minutes onto downtown one-way streets. Residential parking booked on Prked provides similar 5- to 15-minute walking distances from multiple sides of campus, including West Campus and North University. Prked also allows you to reserve guaranteed private property with an on-site host rather than competing for drive-up availability in large multi-level state garages.

How Does Prked Compare to State Garage J and Capitol Visitor Garage?

State Garage J and the Capitol Visitor Garage are economical public options at $25, but they require a longer 15- to 20-minute walk to Darrell K Royal - Memorial Stadium. Private spaces on Prked generally place you closer—often within an 8- to 14-minute walk in North University or Cherrywood. While State Garage J empties smoothly onto downtown one-ways, Prked spaces provide the added flexibility of choosing your departure direction toward MoPac or US-183.

Prked vs. State Garage G & Surface Lot 24 for Longhorns Gameday Parking

State Garage G and Lot 24 charge a premium $75 flat rate for prime proximity south of the stadium, placing vehicles directly in the middle of pedestrian crowds and restricted street corridors. Prked offers a far more economical alternative with flexible pricing set by local hosts across nearby neighborhoods. Choosing a residential spot also avoids the campus gridlock, giving you direct access to open city streets immediately after the game.

Prked vs. State Lot 26 Park-and-Ride at Darrell K Royal - Memorial Stadium

State Lot 26 is the cheapest driving option at $10 per vehicle, but it requires waiting for UT shuttles before and after the game to reach the drop point on Dean Keeton Street. Prked provides a fully walkable experience (5 to 15 minutes), removing shuttle wait times and crowded bus queues entirely. Both options offer easy highway departure away from central campus gridlock, but Prked gives you direct control over your arrival and departure timeline.

Prked vs. ADA Parking (Lot 118 & Trinity St)

Official ADA parking in Lot 118 and Trinity Street costs $50 to $62 and includes specialized golf cart shuttles to accessible stadium gates, making it the best choice for attendees who require mobility assistance. Prked spots require an unassisted 5- to 15-minute walk to the gates without specialized transport shuttles. However, for fully mobile fans without state disability placards, Prked provides guaranteed advance reservations without checkpoint entry restrictions.

Prked vs. Rideshare at Darrell K Royal - Memorial Stadium: Which Gets You Home Faster?

Rideshare drop-offs along Dean Keeton Street provide direct curb access before kickoff, but post-game departures are plagued by heavy congestion, surge pricing, and crowded pickup sidewalks. Walking to a pre-booked Prked spot lets you get behind the wheel immediately without waiting on driver availability. Driving out from a residential driveway also lets you bypass the rideshare bottleneck on Dean Keeton and head straight toward major thoroughfares.

Prked vs. CapMetro Public Transit for Texas Longhorns Games

CapMetro buses provide an inexpensive way to reach the edge of campus, dropping passengers an 8-minute walk away at the UT West Mall, though certain routes must navigate game day detours. Prked is tailored for drivers who need a guaranteed, secure vehicle space close to the stadium. While transit spares you from driving in Austin traffic, residential parking gives you the privacy of your own vehicle and a fast exit route onto arterial roads like MoPac or Lamar Boulevard.

Darrell K Royal - Memorial Stadium FAQs

Where is the best place to park for Texas Longhorns football games at DKR?

For Longhorn Foundation donors and season ticket holders with permits, the closest parking to Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium is in Manor Garage (MAG), San Jacinto Garage (SJG), and Trinity Garage (TRG), all right by the gates. Single-game drivers without permits generally do best in the Texas Capitol state garages south of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (Garages A, E, F, and J). They sit about a 10- to 15-minute walk from the stadium and allow for much quicker exits after the game. To avoid campus traffic completely, fans can book private driveways or off-street spots in West Campus or East Austin through Prked, which holds a 5.0/5 rating on Trustpilot across 750+ reviews as the site's top-ranked parking service.

Do I need to buy a parking pass in advance for DKR stadium?

It pays to buy Texas Longhorns parking passes ahead of time. Almost every garage and surface lot right next to DKR is locked down for season-long Longhorn Foundation donors. The university does put a small allotment of single-game spots online through ParkMobile (like the Health Center Garage), and LAZ Parking handles advance reservations for the State Capitol Complex garages. You can try to pay at the gate at certain state garages, but drive-up spots disappear quickly once game day arrives.

How much does parking cost on game day at Darrell K Royal Stadium?

Parking rates around Darrell K Royal Stadium depend on how close you get to the gates. In the State Capitol Complex, garages run between $25 (Garage J and the Capitol Visitor Garage) and $40 (Garages A, E, and F), though premium spots like State Garage G and Lot 24 reach about $75. Campus-run game day parking, including the Health Center Garage and designated ADA spaces, usually runs between $40 and $62. The cheapest official setup is the university's $10 Park and Ride service at Lot 26 on 51st Street.

What time do parking garages and lots open before kickoff on game day?

Most university and State Capitol garages and surface lots open by 7:00 AM on game days, shifting to 6:00 AM for 11:00 AM kickoffs. It helps to look over the official DKR parking map beforehand because police set up road closures and checkpoints early around the stadium, particularly along San Jacinto Boulevard, Robert Dedman Drive, and Trinity Street. Getting to campus 3 to 4 hours before kickoff gives you plenty of time to clear traffic and find your space.

Can I pay for parking on the day of the game without a permit?

You can pay at the entrance at several public facilities, though lots nearest DKR stay reserved for permit holders. First-come, first-served drive-up parking is available in Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) State Garages A, E, F, G, and J, along with the Capitol Visitor Garage south of MLK Jr. Boulevard. The 51st Street Park and Ride (Lot 26) also accepts gate payment. Most locations take credit cards, but getting there early matters, especially for high-profile SEC games where drive-up inventory goes fast.

Where can I find free or cheap parking near Darrell K Royal Stadium?

Lot 26 at 701 W 51st St is the lowest-cost official choice at $10 per vehicle, which covers the round-trip shuttle to Dean Keeton Street near the stadium. South of campus, State Garage J and the Capitol Visitor Garage offer public spaces for $25. Finding free street parking within walking distance is nearly impossible on game days, as Austin heavily enforces residential permit zones with towing. Drivers looking to save money can also check Prked for affordable private driveways and neighborhood spots nearby.

Where is ADA accessible parking located for DKR, and is there a shuttle?

First-come, first-served ADA parking costs $62 in Lot 118 (south of MLK Jr. Blvd between Red River St and the I-35 Frontage Rd) and along Trinity Street near DeLoss Dodds Way. You must show a state-issued disabled parking placard or plate to get in. An accessible shuttle runs back and forth starting three hours before kickoff and continues until the post-game rush clears, dropping passengers off right at the gates. If you just need to drop someone off without parking, use the designated ADA drop-off point at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Trinity Street.

Is there a Park and Ride shuttle service for Texas football games?

UT runs an official park-and-ride shuttle from State Lot 26 at 701 W 51st Street, right by North Lamar Boulevard. It costs $10 for standard vehicles, with buses dropping fans off near East Dean Keeton Street and Robert Dedman Drive. Service starts three hours prior to kickoff and wraps up one hour after the game finishes. CapMetro buses are another good way to reach the area, including Routes 7 and 10 as well as MetroRapid 801 and 803 from transit hubs around Austin.

Where is the designated rideshare drop-off and pick-up area for DKR?

The designated drop-off and pick-up zone for Uber, Lyft, and taxis sits on the south curb of East Dean Keeton Street between Robert Dedman Drive and Red River Street, just north of DKR. Leaving after the game can get congested around Dean Keeton, so a lot of riders walk east over the I-35 pedestrian bridge toward Disch-Falk Field or south toward 15th Street to hail a ride outside the worst gridlock.

How does game day parking work at the State Capitol Complex garages?

The Texas Facilities Commission opens several state employee facilities for Longhorns games, including Garages A, E, F, G, J, and the Capitol Visitor Garage. These sit south of MLK Jr. Boulevard along San Jacinto Boulevard, Trinity Street, and Brazos Street. Rates range from $25 to $40 (Garage G is $75), and spots can be booked in advance via LAZ Parking or paid at the gate. From there, it is an easy 10-minute walk north up San Jacinto or Trinity straight to the stadium's south gates.

Can you park an RV or tailgate overnight on game weekends at UT?

Overnight RV parking directly on campus is limited to donor permit holders, but fans can take RVs and oversized rigs to Lot 26 at 701 W 51st St. The rate is $20 per parking stall from 6:00 PM the evening before the game through noon the following day. If your rig takes up multiple stalls, you need to pay for each one you occupy. You won't find water or electric hookups here, but portable restrooms are available on-site and the stadium shuttle picks up right at the lot.

Which parking garages are easiest to get out of after the game to avoid traffic?

Garages A, E, and J in the Capitol Complex south of MLK Jr. Boulevard, along with Speedway Garage (SWG) on the west side of campus, offer much easier post-game exits than the facilities right beside the stadium. Structures like Manor, San Jacinto, and Trinity get trapped by heavy foot traffic and mandatory police routes feeding into I-35 construction. When you park south of MLK, you can slip right out onto 11th or 12th Street, or head west toward Guadalupe and Lamar to skip the worst bottlenecks.
